We practice exquisite flock management borne from decades of experience: twice per year (or more) we de-worm our entire flock (they dislike this intensely & so do we, but it must be done)...at the same time, we will dust (if needed) with pyrethrum powder & treat with whatever additional moderne/herbal/off-label recipes we employ. We dispose of the resultant eggs for a period of 2 weeks, due to residual chemicals.
In the interim, our flock loves a dust bath...& we sprinkle ash in their fave bathing locations just to provide perfect hygiene.
All of our chickens are given diatomaceous earth & kelp daily...we hand mix it into their unmedicated Kalmbach Henhouse Reserve Granola/Scratch & Peck Organic blend. & then there is the BSF larvae...yum! We feed 1 lb. of black soldier fly larvae per day, on average. In addition, the hens hunt for earthworms & other delectables until dusk at which time they wait quite patiently, to be carried one-by-one into their home for cushy dreamtime.
We do not eat our chickens! They are bonsai'ed Dinos...& we are civil savages.

Our current flock consists of 7 Faverolles, 3 Black Copper Marans, 2 Partridge Penedesencas & 1 Blue Ameracauna sweetie. In 2024, producing flock will include the babygirl Crested Creme Legbars, Black Bresse & White Crested Black & Silver Laced Polish infants that we're raising right now...& we shall have more Blue Ameracaunas (because we love green eggs & ham).
